Hundreds
of years ago, in an attempt to appease his many wives, a famous Turkish
Sultan ordered his confectioner to create something unique and satisfyingly
sweet. To the Sultan's great delight, his confectioner returned with a
soft and delicately flavored sweet which quickly became a court favorite.
Here, this traditionally made Turkish Delight -- or "Loukoum,"
as it is called throughout the Mediterranean -- is perfectly spiced with
tender pieces of candied ginger. This special handmade sweet can be savored
